So, we’ve been paid back in full by these fine women from Peru who, through their microloans, were able to grow their small retail businesses. Yea for them, yea for us!

FROM THE APPLICATION: “Amalia, Rosa and Fortunata belong to the Chiara Village Bank. Chiara is the town where they live, located an hour away from Ayacucho. All three of the women earn income farming cereals and tubers.

Amalia is 22 years old, married, and has two children. She owns a store where she sells groceries, vegetables, fruit, and clothes. The store is housed in a rented stand next to the district park. In addition to running the store, Amalia also raises animals, such as pigs and Guinea pigs that she sells at district fairs. Rosa is 31, married, and has three children. She sells “salchipollo” (a dish consisting of chicken and french fries) from a cart in front of her house. Additionally, Rosa, like Amalia, raises animals. They all dream about improving their families’ standard of living and being able to afford good education for their children."
