FROM THE KIVA APPLICATION:
Mrs. Sogoba Rokia is 29 and a married mother of three children. Like most women of her generation, Mrs. Sogoba decided to earn her living through an income-generating business. She thus decided to sell cloth, which is an item in high demand among women in Mali. Her customers come to buy her cloth and then sew it to wear at important social events (marriages or baptisms). The quality of her products draws more customers than her competitors. With this loan, she would like to purchase 90 units of traditional African “Wax” cloth. She uses her profits to help feed her family, to pay off the interest on her loan, for savings and to help pay her husband’s family’s expenses.
